Over time, KazNU expanded its academic structure by introducing new faculties. The humanities stream developed with the addition of language and philology programs, while journalism education was introduced in the early 1940s.

After World War II, the university saw rapid growth, with the establishment of faculties such as Geography, Philosophy, Economics, and Law. This expansion strengthened its academic diversity and research capabilities, supporting the development of scientific and medical research fields.

By the 1980s, KazNU had evolved into a major research institution with numerous departments, laboratories, and highly qualified academic staff. This strong foundation enabled the university to advance in areas like medicine, clinical research, and healthcare education.
