About Jilin University

Jilin University was established in the year 1946 and is located in Changchun city of Jilin Province. It was one of the first 22 Universities to have a graduate school. Soon it got approval from the State Education Commission “211 Project” in 1995. The University is a merger of Jilin University of Technology, Changchun University of Science and Technology, Changchun University of posts and Telecommunications and Bethune Medical University. The new Jilin University was formed in 2000. Again the Chinese People’s Liberation Army Quartermaster University was merged in 2004 with the University.

The University has 47 colleges providing almost all the University subjects like law, literature, history, sceince, art, history, philosophy, education, engineering, agriculture, management and economics. The University offers major in 129 undergraduate subjects, 48 first level doctoral degree authorization points,298 second level master’s degree authorization points,60 first level master’s degree authorization points,42 post doctoral research stations and 264 second level doctoral degree authorization points.

Jilin University consists of 6,657 faculty members, out of which 1,618 of them are doctoral supervisors and 2,110 of them are Professors. The University has a great contribution from the state also, 32 experts of the University were selected by the Ministry of Education and 59 Changjiang Scholars Award Scheme. 31 were awarded by the National Outstanding Youth Fund, 90 of them were selected by the Changbaishan Scholars in Jilin Province, and 33 of them were awarded by the National Outstanding Youth Fund.

Location

Jilin University located in Changchun city is the largest and capital city of Jilin Province. Unlike Shenyang, Dalian and Harbin it is one of the biggest cities of Northeast China. The city is also known as the City of Automobiles and is sometimes referred to as “Detroit of China.”

Major part of the city is surrounded by the Songhua River, so it is also known as the River city. The City is also surrounded by 4 mountains which are Long Tan Mountain in the east, Turtle Mountain in the south, North Mountain in the west, and Zhuque Mountain in the North. Among all this mountains Beishan Mountain of North is the most famous mountain of Jilin city.

Changchun is also awarded by the Ministry of Construction of P.R. China as “National Garden cities” because of its high greening rate in 2001. Some of the famous temples of Changchun are Baoguo Xinglo Temple, Changchun Temple, Changchun City Mosque, Big Buddha Temple, and Changchun Wanshou Temple.

Climate

The city has a humid continental climate. Winters are very long which last from November till March and windy. Due to the Siberian anticyclone the region experiences a dry weather in winters. In January the temperature is -16.7 degree centigrade. Summers are hot with average temperature of 22 degree centigrade in the month of July. Heavy rainfall occurs in the month of June till August.

Intake

There is generally only one intake in China. The students can apply only once in a year. While in other countries most of the Universities have two intakes in a year. In 2019, the news has also confirmed that NEET score of the candidate will be valid for three years. So, if the candidate is not able to get admission in the University. He can easily apply next year also. It is very tough to get admission in China because of the high demand and quality education. Only students with good academic score and NEET result score are allowed for admission.

Scholarship

Jilin University offers scholarship to International students based on the percentage of marks acquired by the student in intermediate. Almost all the Universities in China provide scholarship. Each University has set up its own benchmark for providing Scholarship to International students. Scholarship amount ranges from Rs.50, 000 to 5 lacs.

It completely depends upon the student’s performance and his attendance. Any student who is doing well in her studies is eligible for Scholarship.

Hostel

Jilin University hostel is located within the campus only. The University has two separate hostels for both boys and girls and they are provided with all facilities inside the hostel. Canteen and super markets are both available within the university campus. Students don’t have to go out for buying any necessity items. Hostel is very safe for girls as it is provided with full safety and security. Students are not allowed to enter the hostel without a biometric entry. It is compulsory for all the students. Also if any outsider wants to meet the students they have to take special permission, then only they are allowed to enter inside the hostel is also known as China Standard Time. The time clock of China is 2 hrs fast as compared to India.

Documents Required for MBBS Admission in Jilin University

  • 10th, 12th Mark sheet.
  • NEET score card.
  • 1 passport size photograp.
  • Passport.
  • Physical Fitness certificate.
  • Gap certificate (in case there is any gap in the academic year).
  • 6 months bank statement (minimum balance should be around the fees of 1st year).
  • Character certificate.
  • Migration & Transfer Certificate.

Eligibility

  • An applicant must be Non-Chinese National and must possess a valid passport with a valid Chinese visa for study in China.
  • Applicants must present their HSK marks cards depicting their proficiency in Chinese language. However, relaxation can be given to students applying for programs taught in the English Language.
  • Applicants must abide by the rules & regulations of the University as well as the Chinese government.
  • Undergraduate program applicants of not more than 25 years and must submit high school mark sheets.
  • Master’s degree applicants of not more than 35 years, a bachelor degree holder and must submit 2 recommendation letters from professors.
  • A Doctoral program applicant must be a Master degree holder and not above 45 years of age. Submission of 2 recommendation letters from professors is a mandatory requirement.

Expertise and relevant team of professionals verify and selects the students who are granted pre-admission letters by the mid of June. By the end of June, these must apply for University Scholarship online. Once the applications are scrutinized, the students are awarded the scholarship in the month of September each year. The provincial department where the university is located takes the responsibility of all applications. Each university in the province receives funds and aids from the Provincial Department of Education according to the number of students who have been awarded the scholarship. If the student does not abide by the rules & regulations of the university or the government, the university has the authority to report to the provincial department of education and his/her scholarship is deemed to be terminated with immediate effect. The university or college must submit a comprehensive report of students’ assessment to the provincial department that will help them determine the student’s eligibility for scholarship in the coming year. This report must be submitted in writing by the end of May.
