Bukovinian State Medical University was established in the year 1944 and is one of the largest higher instructive foundations of chernivtsi. The University is built with modern multisectoral building of the IV accreditation level, included into the general register of the WHO, Magna Charta Universitatum (Bologna, Italy), the Association of the Carpathian Region Universities that imparts certified and skilled coaching as indicated by the evaluation arrangement of training.

The University comprises a total of 47 Departments of all faculties: Stomatological, four medical faculties, pharmaceutical, and the staff of post-graduate preparing. The University incorporates therapeutic instructive foundations of the I-II accreditation level: Chernivtsi, Vashkivtsi, Novoselytsia medicinal schools. The instructive logical reasonable complex with Kovel therapeutic school is made.

The University has a very good graduation track record who have satisfied themselves in the field of Pharmaceutical, educational, medical, economical, social, scientific and cultural spheres. The University is well pleased and delighted of its students. Some of the University graduates include the Director of L.I. Medvid Ukrainian Institute of Ecology and Hygiene, the Director of the institute of Traumatology and Orthopedics of the National Academy of Medical Science. Some of them are even state prize winners: the Hero of Ukraine, the famous composer, and well known Ukrainian poet.

The city experiences a cold winter along with warm summers. The annual temperature of the city is 8 degree centigrade. June and July are the hottest month of the year. Winter mostly starts from October and january/February is the coldest month.

The maximum temperature is 19.8 degree centigrade and the minimum temperature reaches to -2.9 degree centigarde.
